It's normal for a child to suck their thumb, but when do they grow out of it? For some it six or seven, for others it maybe twelve. We are all different but we all usually grow out of it eventually. Then there are the few who are teenagers/adults. You see them in your classroom, in the office, walking down the streets and you just stop to think how gross that is. To me there is nothing more sickening then sticking a dirty finger in your mouth for comfort. Plus you look so childish when you do it. If you ever want people to take you seriously you defiantly do not suck your thumb while you talk to them.

Nonsense. I suck my thumb in public (usually unconsciously) all the time and everyone that knows me treats me fine. They've learned to accept it, as I have.
